Wheel Medic specializes in the repair and restoration of bent, broken, gouged, cracked and unsightly aluminum wheels. It is on the list of CVOA approved and recommended vendors, and has repaired and restored wheels for a number of CVOA members already. Wheel Medic can repair or restore any aluminum wheel, not just Cosworth Vega wheels.
This little tour features owner Bob Boley showing his shop to CVOA member Troy McMorris.
In photos 1, 5 and 7 we see Bob explaining some of the tools used to straighten bent wheels, the Wheel Medic repair process, and a turning lathe used to machine the wheels where necessary.
In photo 2 Bob stands near the media blast cabinet where wheels are painstakingly cleaned with plastic media before being refinished.
Photo 3 shows a turning lathe used to machine wheels back to their original shape after TIG welding.
Photo 4 is another turning lathe.
Photo 6 is a shot of just one of Wheel Medic's storage racks for its large inventory of aluminum wheels.
Photo 8 depicts a wheel mounted on a machine that rotates it slowly, permitting it to be conveniently oriented for straightening, or moved into position for hand polishing.
Photos 9,10,11 and 12 highlight various stages of the refinishing process, from the room where wheels are chemically cleaned and treated, to the paint booth where they are sprayed with color and clear, to shots of the extensive paint and materials inventory.
The remaining photos show some examples of the high quality work produced by Wheel Medic.
